" work "

February 2, 2007

I was fortunate to sit down with Portland, Maine super welterweight boxer Jason "The Hammer" Lahoullier over the weekend, and talk with him about what he does for a living. Having answered all of the questions local publications have asked him in the past —
    "When did you start?"
    "Where are you from?"
    "Why boxing?"
— Lahoullier explained that when your job is fighting—when you do professionally what most people run from their entire lives—intense physical confrontation—you're never really intimidated by anything.

Here, 11 photographers, writers, and regular folks were asked to tackle the topic of "work". Where Jason works by fighting (and with a 20-0 record, he works quite nicely), others covered work-space, routine, co-workers, and Portland darlings the Damsels in Burlesque documented their working process, topless pastry baking and all.

We expect you'll enjoy. Many thanks for visiting.
